VANCOUVER, B.C. – No new whales or dolphins for the Vancouver Aquarium in British Columbia.

The Vancouver Park Board voted to ban whales, dolphins and porpoises in captivity.

The three already at the aquarium can stay, but aren’t allowed to perform, which doesn’t sit well with CEO John Nightingale

“It just doesn’t make any sense, [it] defies logic,” Nightingale says.

Nightingale tells CTV it’s unclear what constitutes a performance.

The aquarium plans to fight the ruling.

Some are worried the board’s decision may have a negative impact on the aquarium’s rescue program.
