Appeal for dolphin and whale sightings to be reported

People are being asked to help spot whales and dolphins as part of a national watch week.

The Sea Watch Foundation's annual event aims to give a general snapshot of what is in UK coastal waters over a short period of time.

Almost 400 dolphins and porpoises were spotted off Wales' coastlines last year.

They included harbour porpoises off the Gower, Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey and a Risso's dolphin close to Aberaeron.

Kathy James, a sightings officer for the Sea Watch Foundation, said people could help to provide valuable data.
