A family renting a cottage in Riviere-du-Loup found an unexpected surprise along the shoreline – a baby beluga.
Marie-France Levesque posted the video above on her Facebook page.
She said her 12-year-old son discovered the beached baby whale.
They put it back in the water, but the whale kept returning to the beach.
They covered the whale and kept pouring water on it for several hours until officials from Fisheries and Oceans Canada arrived from Tadoussac to assist.
They were able to return the baby beluga to a group of female belugas nearby.
