Biologist’s Airborne Algae Whistleblower Lawsuit Moves Forward

A medical lab contracting with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration must continue to defend a lawsuit filed on behalf of a biologist who expressed safety concerns over the installation of allegedly toxic algal labs near his office.

On Nov. 2, U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III denied Daniel R. Carr’s employer’s motion to dismiss his case. The lawsuit moves forward in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Carr worked as a medical laboratory technician for Jardon & Howard Technologies Inc. from September 2007 to Dec. 8, 2014, at NOAA’s Pivers Island facility.
