Victoria has a statewide coordination plan to manage blue-green algae bloods.

The Victorian blue-green algae circularExternal Link outlines the roles and responsibilities of state government and local government agencies, water managers and catchment management authorities in this plan. It is updated and circulated every September.

The plan is coordinated by Department Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) - (previously known as the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP)).

We provide advice on the potential health effects of algal blooms and administer the Safe Drinking Water Act 2003.
