Blue-green algae warning for Murray Valley channels removed

Goulburn-Murray Water has removed the blue-green algae warning it had issued for all channels in the Murray Valley Irrigation Area following a significant decline in algae levels.

G-MW issued this blue-green algae warning in late January.

The warning remained in place for 21 days.

In a statement, G-MW said the organisation would continue to undertake water quality monitoring and if blue-green algae reached levels deemed unsafe, warnings would be reissued.

However customers are reminded that water supplied by G-MW remains unsuitable for human consumption without first being properly treated.
