Canadian lawmakers have voted to make it illegal to keep a whale, dolphin or porpoise captive.

Just two aquariums in Canada house these animals.

One of them is Marineland, just across the border in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The so-called “Free Willy” bill allows the aquariums to keep the animals they have, but they can’t add new ones through capture or breeding.

The law takes effect once it receives so-called royal assent.
