Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is joining the search for the people or persons involved in a "sick act of cruelty" against a dolphin, leading to its death.

A bottlenose dolphin, was found dead in May off the coast of Upper Captiva. The necropsy results were announced this week, showing it was likely killed by a spear.

“This was, without a doubt, a sick act of cruelty and we hope that anyone who has information on the responsible party will step up, do the right thing, and share whatever information they have,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator.
