GRAND ISLE, La. (WGNO) – A dolphin that was rescued eight months ago after he was found stranded on Grand Isle has been released into the wild and is doing well.

The Audubon Nature Institute teamed up with Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to rescue the distressed dolphin in October of last year.

They weren’t sure he could survive on his own, but he was released six weeks ago and has been closely monitored since then. The Audubon Institute says the dolphin has adapted well to being back in the wild.
