FREETOWN, Mass. (WPRI) – A dolphin has been spotted in Freetown.

The police department posted on its Facebook page that a report of a beached dolphin came in at about 5:45 Friday evening. The animal was on the shoreline of Cove Lane and reportedly could not free itself.

About 90 minutes later, the dolphin, which residents thought had been beached for several hours, managed to swim away.

It was spotted again Saturday morning, this time at Hathaway Park in Assonet.
