Rescuers save dying dolphin on a STRETCHER pulled by a jetski

  • Dolphin was suffering from a chronic disease which caused it to beach

A sick dolphin seen on video being rushed to vets at a marine park has died after being stranded on the beach.

The mammal was spotted on the Spanish shores of the Malvarrosa beach in Valencia and bathers quickly called the police.

A marine biology expert arrived on the scene and a together with a team from the local Red Cross they got the dolphin onto a sea stretcher.

Video footage shows the dolphin being transported to the L'Oceanogràfic Aquarium and Marine park to be attended to at the veterinary clinic.

The marine mammal has a bloody nose and appears to be in severe pain. 

Dragged by a jet ski two rescuers lie beside it and splash the animal with water.

Sadly the dolphin died shortly after its transferal to a clinic in the park.

It was suffering from a chronic disease which caused it to beach, according to the specialist who treated the dolphin. 

An autopsy has been carried out to confirm the findings.

The company that oversees the park, Avanqua, thanked the public for their collaboration in rescuing the dolphin by calling the emergency services.

The team for breached animals arrived quickly, even though on this occasion it was too late.   

The L'Oceanogràfic Marine park is home to around 500 different aquatic species including the largest dolphinarium in Europe with five pools.
