On Monday FWC marine mammal biologists along with other rescue partners were able to successfully rescue a bottlenose dolphin calf who was entangled in fishing line in Englewood.

According to FWC, the calf had fishing line cutting around a third of the calf’s fluke blades as well as through its mouth.

FWC was able to bring the calf and its mother in to conduct treatment and were able to remove the line. The mom and calf swam off emitting whistle sounds after being let go.

If you see an injured or entangled dolphin or other wildlife, please call FWC Wildlife Alert Hotline: 888-404-3922.
