April 26 (UPI) -- A 16-foot great white shark was filmed feasting on a bloated humpback whale carcass off the coast of California for more than 18 hours.

Keith Poe, who runs SharkTagger.com, said he and his crew were alerted to the carcass' location about 14 miles off Dana Point Thursday and they headed out Saturday morning to see if the humpback would lure any hungry predators.

Poe, who posted video to Facebook, said the 16-foot great white shark that he found feasting on the carcass appeared to be pregnant. He said she ate so much during her 18-hour binge that she was swimming "like she was intoxicated."

"She looked like she was here to give birth -- she was very large in her girth," Poe told The Orange County Register. "As she was eating the whale, it was ridiculous how big she got. She was swimming upside-down, just swimming around like she was very happy and satisfied."

Poe said he and Ryan Logan tagged the large shark.

Scarlet, a whale that became famous after being entangled in a line for six weeks before breaking free last year, was known to have several health problems before turning up dead Thursday off Newport Beach.
