Horrific video shows blood bubbling up from whale burial site in Queensland
Spooked beachgoers got an early taste of Halloween when blood began bubbling up from below the sand at Wurtulla Beach on the Sunshine Coast.
Video footage has emerged of the moment blood began spurting from sand above whale's carcass, which had been buried at the beach on Sunday morning.
Council officers ordered the dead whale to be buried into a sandpit grave, but it would seem it wasn't quite deep enough.
Local resident Adam Ellis filmed the creepy blood bubble, telling News Corp he "didn't expect to see what I saw" during his beach visit.
Sunshine Coast Council released a statement on Monday saying it would be too difficult to tow the whale out to sea or take it to a waste disposal facility.
Footage appeared on social media of the burial, showing the skull and carcass being buried just below surface level, contradicting the council's claim that the body was buried more than three metres deep.
