Humpback whale rescued off Australia’s Queensland coast

Rescuer workers try to rescue a humpback whale entangled in a fishing net off Australia’s Queensland state.

A humpback whale has finally swum free after becoming entangled in a fishing net off Australia’s Queensland state.

The 12-metre whale got caught up in a 20-metre net north of Brisbane. Rescuers were rushed to free the huge animal, which had drifted into one-meter deep water.

When the net was cut by Marine Parks rangers, the whale was able to free itself and swim out to sea with the help of the rising tide. Rescuers say the netting had left the whale with minor injuries.
