Kathryn Rose of the International Fund for Animal Welfare gives an interview about the dolphin rescue effort today in Wellfleet.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare Marine Mammal Rescue and Research Team has herded 10-15 dolphins away from the shore in Wellfleet Harbor.

The Yarmouth Port-based non-profit worked with the harbormaster to herd the animals away from the near shore.

A small group of dolphin was last seen in the harbor’s mid-channel, according to Kathryn Rose, IFAW assistant stranding coordinator. IFAW personnel will continue to monitor the dolphins to make sure they don’t come back in and strand on low tide, Rose said.

IFAW was called about the dolphins at 7:15 a.m., she said.

Low-tide in the area is shortly after 2 p.m.
