Goulburn-Murray Water said recent water quality monitoring testing had showed a significant decline in blue-green algae levels.
Customer operations general manager Scott Barber anticipated it would be welcome and timely news for the many holiday-makers who visited Lake Eppalock over the Easter and autumn school holidays.
“A blue-green algae warning had been in place for Lake Eppalock since December, impacting on some recreational activities on the lake,” he said.
GMW will continue to undertake regular water quality monitoring at Lake Eppalock and urged people to keep up-to-date with blue-green algae warnings.
Blue-green algae warnings are still in place for Laanecoorie Reservoir, Cairn Curran Reservoir and Hepburns Lagoon.
Mr Barber said people could visit gmwater.com.au/news/bga or phone the GMW blue-green algae hotline on 03 5826 3785 for more information.
The organisation reminded customers water supplied by GMW was not suitable for human consumption without first being properly treated.
