ALONG THE OREGON COAST, Ore. (KOIN) — A humpback whale washed ashore at Falcon Cove Beach Friday night and a necropsy will be done to try and determine the cause of death.
The whale has been dead a long time, said Keith Chandler with the Marine Mammal Stranding Network. He said it’s unclear how much can be learned from the whale since it’s been dead for so long.
Falcon Cove Beach is about 8 miles south of Cannon Beach. The wind carried the smell of the whale for at least a mile, Chandler said.
