Maya the dolphin dies after a long struggle with illness at National Aquarium

BALTIMORE, Md. (WSET) -- Maya, the 18-year-old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin has died after months of struggling with illness.

In a recent post on the National Aquarium's Facebook page, the aquarium announces the passing of Maya and says she was exhibiting signs of illness in March.

"Late yesterday, the difficult decision was made to euthanize her so that she did not endure any additional pain or suffering," the post reads.
