NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — More dangerous substances are popping up in local waters.

The Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper says it's found algae blooms at the lake at Hyde Park in Niagara Falls and in the Tonawanda Creek.

Earlier this week, algae blooms were spotted in Chautauqua Lake.

These blooms make the water look like pea soup and can be very harmful to you and your pets.

Ingesting the algae from the water can make you sick.
