A mother whale has kept her baby afloat for days.The newborn orca was born near Victoria, British Columbia, Tuesday and died shortly afterward, according to the Center for Whale Research.But the baby's carcass was sinking and being repeatedly retrieved by the mother.The mother was moving in choppy seas toward San Juan Island in the U.S.As of sunset Wednesday, the mother was still pushing the dead calf near Saturna Island, British Columbia.

A mother whale has kept her baby afloat for days.

The newborn orca was born near Victoria, British Columbia, Tuesday and died shortly afterward, according to the Center for Whale Research.
