NYPD spots whale in East River

This whale wanted to get a glimpse of the city’s big fish.

An NYPD Harbor Unit boat spotted the sea mammal at 10:11 a.m. swimming in the East River — just a stone’s throw away from Gracie Mansion.

“#Harbor spotted another whale in the E. River this morning right next to Gracie Mansion. Even the wildlife want to ring in #NYE2017 in #NYC,” NYPD Special Ops tweeted.

Last month there were three separate humpback whale sightings in the Hudson River, although it’s unclear if they were of the same creature.

On Nov. 17 a whale cruised along the Staten Island Ferry route during the morning commute.
