The fight to keep our water clean takes state of the art technology.

In addition to teams of scientists, more buoys than ever and a brand new high-resolution satellite have been brought on board in this fight.

As the scope of this algae problem has been brought to the forefront the past few years, more money has been poured into advanced technologies.

A new European satellite is now scanning once every other day over Lake Erie, giving scientists their clearest pictures yet of the bloom.

Another one will be added soon for daily scans.

Despite all this technology and money, there are still future sensors that could improve algae detection.

Technology has certainly improved, but humans are still very much needed.

We will continue to monitor all this new data throughout the summer.
