WORCESTER — Patch Reservoir, in the city's Tatnuck-Worcester State neighborhood has been reopened to recreational activities, according to an announcement from the city Department of Public Works & Parks.
The water had been deemed unsafe because of a bloom of toxic blue-green algae (cyanobacteria).
The reservoir was treated with copper sulfate, and now tests have found no toxins or cyanobacteria.
Blue-green algae tend to be found in warm bodies of water late in the summer and fall.
Indian Lake is closed because the algae has infested the lake.
