PORTAGE, Mich. — Portage city officials said Ramona Park Beach is closed Wednesday, July 17.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) advised the public not to swim in the lake.
The closure followed weed and algae treatment, applied by EGLE, at Long Lake in the city of Portage and Pavilion Township.
City officials said they were not given notice of the treatment.
The beach was not scheduled to reopen until 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18.
City officials advised the public to contact EGLE at 260-567-3500 if they have any questions.
