Investigators offer $11K reward for information about shooting death of pregnant dolphin
Investigators with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are offering an $11,500 reward for information about the shooting death of a pregnant dolphin. The dolphin's body was found on the beach near Waveland, Mississippi. A necropsy showed the dolphin died of a gunshot wound. Investigators also discovered that the dolphin was pregnant and the unborn calf had also died. The dolphin's carcass was discovered in late April and placed in a freezer by the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies to further investigate the dolphin's death.According to the NOAA, a small caliber bullet was lodged in the mammal’s lung, but they still don't know who shot the animal.Now NOAA officials are asking for anyone with information about the dolphin's death to come forward. Tips can be left on the NOAA enforcement hotline at 1-800-853-1964.
