'THIS IS DISGRACEFUL'

Shock as photos of party-goers with dead dolphin at Cork student accommodation emerge online

Another image shows the carcass outside the apartment on the Model Farm Road

PHOTOGRAPHS have emerged of party-goers with a dead dolphin inside an Irish apartment.

The incident occurred at Parchment Square student accommodation on the Model Farm Road in Cork.

Other snaps show the mammal outside the apartment after it was allegedly thrown out the window.

The complex is run by an independent company and is not connected to any of the colleges in the county.

The graphic images were shared by Cork radio station Red FM.

The post read: "I got these photos this morning from a friend. Apparently they're doing the rounds. They're disgusting. I think it's a seal or dolphin.

"The poor animal. I don't know how or why they did this. It's appalling. It seems to be students. I was a student myself once and I know what goes on. Most of it is harmless fun but this is disgraceful."

Within the post, RedFM informed one commenter that the mammal may in fact be a porpoise.

They said: "Just been told by a marine biologist it is most likely a porpoise.

"They are small toothed whales that are very closely related to oceanic dolphins."

While a spokesperson for the Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals told Independent.ie: "The mind boggles with people's stupidity," the spokesperson said.

"Anybody with any level of cop-on would know it's not right.

"They'll think twice before they do something like this again."

The Irish Sun has reached out to Parchment Square  for comment.
