A state assemblywoman and animal rights advocate expressed alarm Friday over the recent deaths of 41 humpback whales along the Eastern seaboard.

“There is concern because the humpback whale is an endangered species, and we need to get to the bottom of this,” said animal rights advocate Jean Shafiroff.

Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright called on the state to look into the deaths.
