A dolphin has been rescued after it became stranded on a beach in Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset.

The animal became beached on Berrow Beach at about 12:30 BST, Burnham coastguard said.

Two RNLI lifeguards helped to keep the animal breathing and afloat in shallow water, before other rescue services helped to carry it into deeper water.

It was then seen to swim away. Rescuers said they hoped it was now "on the mend to full health".
