The City of San Angelo is getting lots of complaints about the look, taste and smell of its water.

Some said the tap water smells like rotten eggs or raw sewage.

Others said it tastes bad. One person claimed they had to put lime and lemon juice in the water just so they could stand to drink it.

Someone else filled up their pool Sunday and said the water is yellow.

The City said the "slight change in the aesthetics, taste and odor" of the tap water is due to the "degradation of algae and organic material present" in Lake O.H. Ivie.

The "temporary condition ... should clear in the upcoming days," according to the City.

The City said it is conducting additional hydrant flushes to expedite the clearing of water currently in the distribution system.

In the meantime, the City said the water is safe to drink.
