These unsuspecting boaters got a whale of a surprise

They got a whale of a surprise.

A group of New Jersey boaters were bobbing near the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Thursday when a massive humpback whale with its mouth wide open burst out of the water just feet from their craft.

Paul Zioklowski captured the “giant leviathan” on camera, calling it an “over-whale-ming” experience and “definitely one of the craziest” things he’s ever seen, during an interview with ABC News.

The humpback, which typically weighs about 40 tons, was attempting to gobble up some bunker fish when it made its big splash.
