What was being perceived as a stranded ship on the Hulung Beach on Serum Island in Indonesia was discovered to be a ‘Giant carcass’ of a mysterious animal on May 10. The carcass of the mysterious animal was reportedly discovered by a 37-year-old man who took videos of the enormous carcass and uploaded them online.
According to Sun.uk, the animal is 50ft long and government troops had to be called in, to help clear the water. In the video, shared on Youtube by Ahyan, the carcass initially seems like a rock but a closer look reveals that the entire structure is the mass of a mysterious animal. Ahyan claims that the structure weighs 35-tonnes. However, FinancialExpress.com cannot verify the authenticity of this video.
Although it is still not clear what animal it is, a report in Mashable claims that the creature could be a baleen whale. However, the claims are only based on images and videos of the creature which was fast decomposing and to tell whether it was a humpback whale or not, was not possible.
The giant carcass had caused much confusion in the area and people had flocked onto the beach to see the creature. Recent videos of the creature revealed that it also oozed out a red fluid.
Incidents of whales getting stranded and struggling for their lives are not new. Recently, in one of the largest whale stranding incidents, around 416 pointer whales were seen fighting for the lives on New Zealand’s Golden Bay.
