A dolphin has been spotted in the River Liffey this morning as Storm Diana batters Dublin.

It was quite a surprise for workers along the quays as its fin peaked through the water.

But there is some concern as dolphins are not usually spotted in the area near the Citi Bank at North Wall Quay.

The video was shared by Darren Farrelly who spotted the mammal.

The DSPCA has warned that the weather has possibly affected its sonar and that they will be monitoring the situation.

In response to the video, they said: "We have been in touch with marine animal rescue, the weather is possibly effecting his sonar.

"He should return by himself but we will be monitoring the situation."

They then added: "There is a dolphin on the River Liffey we have spoken to a member of the Marine Animal Rescue.

"The weather is affecting his sonar, he should return by himself but the situation will be monitored over the next day or so."
