Whale Spotted Off Connecticut Coast
The whale or whales were spotted on at least three occasions
A Humpback whale or whales were spotted at least three times this past week off the Connecticut coast.
It isn't known if its the same whale or a different whale that was spotted on the different occasions, according to the Connecticut Post.

There were reports of sightings off of the Norwalk coast and New Rochelle along with Greenwich and Stamford.
Humpback whales weigh between 25-40 tons and are up to 60 feet in length with newborns weighing in at about a ton, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

They live about 50 years and eat mostly krill, plankton and small fish. They can consume up to 3,000 pounds of food per day.
They are primarily grey, but there is a variable amount of white with individuals.
Their breaching behavior makes them popular for whale watchers. Humpbacks can travel great distances and have been documented migrating more than 5,000 miles from Costa Rica to Antarctica.
Boaters should stay a minimum of 100 yards away.
