White whale believed to be Migaloo spotted off Gold Coast

A white whale believed to be the famed Migaloo has been spotted off the Gold Coast this afternoon.

The 9NEWS chopper filmed the large mammal splashing its tail in the water just after 12.30pm.
It is believed the whale may be Migaloo, the nation’s most well-known white humpback whale.
When the animal was first sighted in 1991, he was the only known white whale in the world.
Another white whale was spotted by whale watchers in 2004, and has since been dubbed the ‘Son of Migaloo’.
