Hundreds of wildlife enthusiasts flocked to a beauty spot after renewed sightings of a humpback whale off the shore but experts feared that it was behaving strangely and may be in trouble.

The whale appeared off Slapton and Torcross in Devon on Thursday and was still there yesterday attracting members of the public keen to glimpse its distinctive tail and hump. Humpbacks are a rare sight in the southwest.

There were few sightings on Saturday morning but it appeared to have come back inshore with the tide that afternoon.
